#1 Booker T. Washington advance to 5-0

Booker T. Washington, the #1 team in the nation, proved yet again why they are the best.  In their game against Monsignor Pace on September 27, the Tornadoes rolled over Pace, defeating them 49-7 in their District 8-4A opener.

Since star quarterback Treon Harris was on the bench due to a stomach ailments and a tender ankle, Washington took to the run game to generate their offense.  Sophomore Mark Walton led the running backs with 100 yards and three touchdowns in his nine carries.  On top of that, senior Krondis Larry added 80 yards and a TD in 15 carries.

Defensively, the Tornadoes picked off the Spartans four times in the match.  Junior La’Darius Crump returned an intercept from 50 yards out to close the first half.  Fellow junior Terry Jefferson had two picks and senior Darius Hanks added on another.

With a perfect 5-0 record thus far, Booker T. Washington shows no signs of slowing down.  At this rate, they will be on top of the DigitalSports National Football Rankings for a long time.

Now the Tornadoes prepare for their voyage to Nevada to face Bishop Gorman away on Friday, October 4 with a 6:00p kickoff.  Gorman, sitting at 26th in the national rankings, looks to give Washington a tough game and upset the nation’s top team.

Key Players:

Mark Walton- 9 carries, 100 yards, 3 TD

Krondis Larry- 15 carries, 80 yards, 1 TD

La’Darius Crump- 1 INT returned for TD
